This is a hilarious account of national military service during the fifties, combined with action during Suez occupation and adventures in the Libyan Desert that are memorable and again as is the entire book, tinged with great humour.
For Bikers out there, an epic ride across the Sahara on a second-hand motorcycle in 1956, by two lunatics, when any form of rescue was impossible, is incredible feat and with Rock ‘n’ Roll painted on its tank, perhaps the earliest account of hell raisers that I have heard of.
Look out for some character called Private Mike Brewer who was left in charge of a military transport dump and it appeared he did a great trade in black market sales. I hasten to add, he’s no relative of mine, I suspect the author Paul Lehmans, who is my snooker coach, had a little dig at me.
All author’s fees are donated to Help for Heroes, a great cause that I support wholeheartedly.
The book is available on line at Arima Publishing and Amazon.
